Memories and muscle cars: Little 500 Festival car show brings collectors together | Local News
ANDERSON — In 1999, Alexandria resident Bobby Eden traveled to a vehicle display in Evansville and, as he viewed the entries make their way through the property’s entrance gate, he noticed a 1936 Ford Slantback sedan.
“I invested the up coming 5 a long time seeking for one to create, and then I eventually located it and created it,” Eden recalled. “I had a male notify me I could not create a person. I did anyway.”
Combining his push to confirm naysayers erroneous with an eye for common automobiles has supplied Eden possession of many collectors objects through the yrs, like a 1941 Dodge Luxury Liner and the automobile he experienced on display Saturday in front of the Paramount Theatre: a shiny orange 1947 Ford coupe.
“It’s really Common Motors Hugger orange,” Eden pointed out. “I noticed this automobile in Kalamazoo, Mich. It was in the motor vehicle corral where by they had been advertising them. I went above and looked at it, acquired it on the place and introduced it house.”
Eden and much more than 40 other traditional auto proprietors experienced their prized belongings on display screen along Meridian Street during the Minimal 500 Festival Warm Rod and Basic Automobile Present. For a lot of of them, it was a chance to polish the chrome on their fenders and share their stories with other motor vehicle buffs.
“It’s like any other passion or interest,” explained organizer Melody Hull, president of the Madison County Historical Society, which benefited from the event’s proceeds. “There’s usually an elemental group group that’s prepared to foster and preserve and keep on to the upcoming technology, and that’s what we have obtained going on listed here.”
Hull herself experienced a traditional car on screen — the one her partner customized purchased from Typical Motors although the few was courting.

Significantly of what delivers Eden to exhibits like Saturday’s, he stated, is not only an interest in the autos, but in the heritage that goes with them.
“It can take us back again to our childhood, growing up in the 60s with these autos,” he claimed. “There’s a great deal of folks that I’ve satisfied in distinct spots all over the japanese United States that, we hit it off and we appreciate viewing just about every other when a 12 months.
“I’ve been executing this for 20, 25 decades, and it is not a challenge to me any more,” he ongoing. “I just appreciate likely and observing the persons and talking to people.”
